The Voice Clearout

It's a very dramatic weekend for BBC One's The Voice. All four judges may face the sack after tonight's final showdown, due to the programme's dramatic decrease in viewers throughout its first series.

Judges Jessie J, Sir Tom Jones, Danny O'Donoghue and Will.i.am have been blamed for the flop in audience numbers. Early on in the series, The Voice peaked at 11 million viewers, but last week's semi final had plummeted to only 4.5 million!

A BBC insider has explained why the viewing figures have slumped over the weeks: "It seems unlikely any of the current coaches will be back. The viewers haven’t connected strongly enough with them. The show got off to a fantastic start, but the fans got bored of the same ultra-positive and unbelievably nice comments every week, and viewing figures tumbled".

Each judge has individually been criticised by both viewers and the BBC. It has previously been reported that The Black Eyed Peas singer, Will.i.am, does not spend enough time with his acts because of jet-setting to the US. Popstar, Jessie J, has been branded a 'diva' by staff, due to being difficult to contact and always being surrounded by her entourage.

Legend Sir Tom Jones and Danny O'Donoghue, lead singer of The Script, have both been criticised for their verbal contributions during the show. One viewer posted online: "Tom always says the same thing, it’s always about how he met Elvis or some other star, and he’s never critical even when the act is rubbish, which seems false".

Other viewers complained suggesting that Danny O'Donoghue was reluctant to speak the truth and not prepared to say what he was really thinking.

But who is going to replace these four judges if they are given the sack? Insiders say that BBC bosses are interested in former Girls Aloud singer, Cheryl Cole. She provided an exciting performance at last week's semi final show. She debuted her latest single 'Call My Name' by swan diving onto the stage. The 28 year old has also been at The Voice studios regularly this week to support 'Team Will' finalist Tyler James. Possible job prospects could have been discussed during this time!

Watch this story continue to unfold tonight! The Voice final is live on air at 7.20pm on BBC One. See if you think the existing judges should be hired or fired!
